Every Club In August Will Be Working Toward Our August Service Project
Michael Rich has been in Scouting since he was 8 years old. He has worked hard to become a candidate for the Eagle Scout award. For his Eagle Scout Community Service Project he has chosen "Hope in a Bag". This project will benefit the children whom Child Protective Services helps. Many times when a child meeds to be removed from their home they are given a garbage bag in which to pack their belongings.
Michael's project is to give them a cheery fabric bag with some personal items and a toy or treat inside. His goal is to give 100 bags! The draw-string bags are made out of 1 yard of cotton fabric. these bags will be given to both boys and girls from ages 1 through 17.
Michael's Plan:
- Organize the project
- Run the donation drive
- Get his fellow scouts to come to rich's Sewing to help people in and out of the store with their sewing machines on club days.
- Michael and fellow scouts will install the draw-strings and write personal notes of hope and encouragement to the children to put in each bag.
- Michael and fellow scouts will be filling the bags with the proper donated items and a personal note, upon completion.
- Michael will deliver the completed bags to Child Protective Services.
